January Newsletter

Dear friends and family of Pine Moon Fine Art,

Whether you live in Steamboat full time, part time, or like to come visit throughout the year, you’ve certainly come across the motto ‘Kindness Floats the Boat’. A simple but powerful saying, it speaks to the transformative impact that even the smallest gesture can have both on the individual and the community. With each act of kindness, a ripple effect is set in motion. Like a pebble thrown into a calm pond, the waves of kindness spread far and wide. This new year let us embrace kindness with open hearts. All of us at Pine Moon Fine Art wish you a very happy year, carried by growing ripples of peace and kindness.

New Beginnings is the title of our January group exhibition. We invite you to come see what this sentiment means to each one of our artists. First Friday Artwalk is this Friday, January 5th, 5–8pm. We look forward to seeing you!

GOOD NEWS

This year’s Winter Carnival Poster, commissioned by Steamboat Sotheby’s International Realty, was created by our own Susan Gill Jackson. The original artwork will be auctioned at the SSWSC Foundation fundraiser All In! on Saturday, February 10, 2024, benefiting the Scholarship Fund.

INSPIRATION
The inspiration for CELEBRATE, the 2024 Winter Carnival poster came from the event name: WINTER around here speaks for itself, is beautiful strong and enduring – like out athletes and like our Western Heritage. Since 1914, the locals have kept the Winter Carnival history. And this town likes to celebrate with fireworks –  thus the title CELEBRATE!

ABOUT SUSAN GILL JACKSON
Susan Gill Jackson, was born an artist. She has always pursued art through the study of various mediums including pencil, watercolor, stained glass, trompel’oeil and oil painting. More recently she has grown in her obsession with painting en plein aire and being directly in the elements to capture the fleeting light and color. She has found it to be quite an intimate and exciting challenge.

November Newsletter

Dear friends and family of Pine Moon Fine Art,

Most of us that live in the mountains have a special affinity for trees. The aspens all around Steamboat mark the cycle of the seasons. Meanwhile, the evergreens sit beautifully still while we hike and ski around them, or tether hammocks and slack lines to their trunks and limbs. Trees provide endless inspiration for artists too, often becoming powerful symbols in works of art such as strength, stability, life and connection.

During November, the artists of Pine Moon Fine Art are celebrating all of their favorite trees. Come enjoy a small, eclectic and colorful forest in the gallery. The grand opening of TREES: ARTISTRY THROUGH THE SEASONS is this Friday, November 3rd, from 5-8 pm. We are open daily 11-6. See you soon!

October Newsletter

Dear friends and family of Pine Moon Fine Art,

Autumn in our Yampa Valley is a breathtaking display of nature's vibrant artistry. As the days grow shorter and the temperatures begin to cool, the valley transforms into a kaleidoscope of rich and warm hues. The aspen trees, standing tall and proud, don their golden yellow attire, creating a striking contrast against the backdrop of the evergreen forests. The rolling hills and meadows become a patchwork of fiery reds, burnt oranges, and rustic browns, as the foliage embraces the changing season. There is so much inspiration all around us!

During the month of October, we are Celebrating our Yampa Valley. The entire gallery is filled with artworks from all of our artists that honor the stunning beauty of our home. First Friday Artwalk is this Friday, October 6th, 5–8pm. Come mingle with friends and enjoy a stroll in the crisp autumn air. We’ll see you soon.

September Newsletter

Dear friends and family of Pine Moon Fine Art,

Every year, as the crisp autumn breeze sweeps across the sky, a mesmerizing natural phenomenon takes place: the sandhill crane migration. These majestic birds, with their long necks and distinctive red crowns, embark on an awe-inspiring voyage spanning thousands of miles, including a visit through our Yampa Valley, each year. We celebrate their beauty and resilience, and revere their journey.

During the month of September, while we will showcase artworks featuring the sandhill crane, we hold larger space for a powerful, vibrant, and personal solo exhibition by our own Missy Borden. Entitled HOPE – WONDER – AWE : A COLLECTION OF VISUAL MEDITATIONS, the show encompasses works brimming with color, movement and personal insight. September will be Missy’s last month at Pine Moon Fine Art. Throughout the month, help us bid her and her family a warm farewell. They will embark on an exciting new journey of their own during which we wish them much hope, wonder and awe. Missy, your voice will be missed. Thank you for being an invaluable member of our gallery.

See you all at First Friday Artwalk this Friday, the 1st, from 5–8pm.
