CUSTOM ARTWORK

There are times when completing a space requires the special touch of a custom piece of art. Custom-made artwork provides the opportunity to tell a story, spark a conversation, honor a memory, and inevitably becomes a capsule in time. Made to your exact specifications in terms of theme, color palette, and size, commissioned work can make a room shine with unique personality and style. Several of our artists accept commissions and are happy to work with you to create just the right piece for your home or office. They can also bring to life your vision for a special gift or create a piece that promotes your favorite cause. Below are some examples and a brief explanation of how each artist approaches the process. Contact us directly for more details.

I’m not a portrait painter in the traditional sense, my focus is geared toward personality... If it’s a landscape or home I prefer to paint on location in addition to photos when necessary.

LINOCUT AND MONOTYPE PRINTS / Jill Bergman

Jill has done several pieces for the Yampa Valley Sustainability Council’s ReTree program here in Steamboat. For 2020, the non-profit organization suggested including a little girl with a cowgirl hat. Jill likes to design an image that can work as a single color print on a t-shirt as well as a painted version to be used online and for advertising.

I start with a drawing, and once that has been approved, I transfer it onto a piece of artist linoleum and carve the image. I roll ink onto it and print with a single color. After the ink is dry, I also paint one of the prints with watercolor.

The best part of creating a design for ReTree is when later in the year, my family goes to plant baby trees along the Yampa River and everyone is wearing the new design on a t-shirt! I love to create artwork for organizations that promote care for the environment.
