June Newsletter

Dear friends and family of Pine Moon Fine Art,

Nighttime is a magical time of day. The world transforms into something entirely different as the sun sets in the sky, and the stars and moon reveal themselves, illuminating everything in a soft glow. Nighttime brings a sense of mystery and intrigue, as creatures that prefer the cover of darkness come out to play.

This month, as we near the summer solstice, our front gallery brims with artwork that celebrates the transition from day to night. Nightfall, a two-person exhibition created by artists Jill Bergman and Paulina M. Johnson, features a collection of unique works that will be on view through the end of the month. Opening reception is this Friday, June 2nd, 5–8pm. We hope you will join us for this incredible show.

May Newsletter

Dear friends and family of Pine Moon Fine Art,

Welcome to May! Perhaps your little corner of the world is in full spring bloom. Here in Steamboat, the process of regeneration and rebirth has only just begun. After many months of snow, we’re beginning to see the greens of the grass and hoping the trees will follow soon. Individually, each natural element blooms in its own time, but together they make the whole of the gorgeous landscapes we call home. In much the same way, all of us at Pine Moon see ourselves as a small part of the whole that makes Steamboat Springs. We strive to constantly support our community and, this month, we are excited to celebrate local young artists.

Perspectives is a group show featuring not only Pine Moon artists, but also students from Steamboat Springs Middle School, Sleeping Giant, Strawberry Park and Soda Creek Elementary. Works selected by art teachers from these schools will be on display through the month of May. Opening reception is this Friday, May 5th, 5–8pm. We hope you will join us and experience the ways in which artists have explored the concept of perspective. See you soon!

April Newsletter

Dear friends and family of Pine Moon Fine Art,

All of our artists are Steamboat Springs locals. They draw inspiration for their artwork from the surroundings here in beautiful Colorado. During this time of transition between winter and spring, many crave the scenery and experiences from other places around the world. For the month of April, Pine Moon Fine Art presents Anywhere But Here, a unique all-artist exhibition that includes inspiration from outside our little paradise of Steamboat Springs. Before you go “anywhere but here” over spring break, be sure to visit and meet the artists at the opening on Friday April 7th, 5-8 during ArtWalk. The gallery will be closed on Easter and then again from April 16th through the 23rd while we go out seeking new sights!

March Newsletter

Dear friends and family of Pine Moon Fine Art,

Welcome to March! While our beautiful town remains draped in a thick blanket of snow, some of us have begun dreaming about spring. As artists I wonder if what we long for is a little more vibrant scenic color. A black and white landscape may evoke power in contrast, but color has the ability to reach our soul. Color psychology has become a popular area of color theory by attempting to assign emotional and psychological connotations between colors and our emotions. Color can bring focus to a subject in a work of art. A limited palette can bring opportunities to highlight texture, technique, symbolic meaning, and so much more!

This month we are excited to feature a striking 3-artist exhibition entitled ‘Black. White. And a Pop of Color’ by artists Missy Borden (acrylic), Sandi Poltorak (graphite) and Jennifer Baker (glass). We invite you to enjoy the diverse ways in which they’ve approached monochromatic art-making, while including a subtle element of color. Join us this Friday, March 3rd, for the opening reception during First Friday Artwalk. The artists will be at the gallery 5–8pm and happy to see you.

GOOD NEWS!

Help us welcome guest artist Attila Feszt. By observing the natural world through a background of drawing, screen-printing, graphic design and comic book illustration, Attila seeks to bring attention to simple objects that are familiar, yet presented in a way that bypasses our preconceived notions about what those objects are.

February Newsletter

Dear friends and family of Pine Moon Fine Art,

Throughout history, jewelry has been one of the most enduring and enchanting art forms. Made of feathers, bones, shells, colored pebbles, and gold, people have worn artifacts and adornments to assert their beauty, identity, social status and relationship to their family and environment for thousands of years. Today, jewelry continues to provide an opportunity for self-expression, fashion, protection and deep connection to our personal life stories.

During the month of February, we are proud to present a solo exhibition by jewelry maker Tibby Speare. Entitled Lifelines: Revitalization with Jewelry, Tibby’s show is an ode to the practice of hand-making that has anchored her journey through life. Each and every piece in this beautiful collection is a personal expression and perhaps an ideal Valentine’s Day gift. We hope you join us this Friday, February 3rd, for the opening reception of the show during First Friday Artwalk 5–8pm. See you soon!
