Jill Bergman, Printmaker, Pine Moon Fine Art Gallery
Jill Bergman’s linocut relief prints use texture, line work, pattern and contrast to create dynamic and playful images. The Colorado landscape, wildlife and decorative illustration influence her style. Carving artist linoleum with small tools is a slow process and every image is carved backwards from how it will look once it is printed on paper. The design is revealed by carving away the areas that won’t print and leaving the image area high. Then ink is rolled onto the block, paper is laid over the top, and it is run it through an etching press or printed by applying pressure to the back by hand. Jill will often paint the final image with gouache, use colored ink or colored paper for variety.
Jill lives in Steamboat Springs with her family and enjoys walking around this beautiful valley in every season.
